Sideswipes across the sliding door and body side

A sideswipe can run from the sliding door into the fixed panel behind it, crossing trim, a wheel opening and several body lines. The outer dent is one part of the job. Panel edges, the door opening and the surface behind the trim can all be affected along that same scrape.

A shallow dent in an open panel and a sharp fold at a panel edge behave differently during repair. Paint covers the completed bodywork; it cannot correct an uneven panel.

Rear impacts: doors, corners and fitted equipment

At the back of a Sprinter, bumper damage may sit below dented rear doors, a displaced lamp or an altered door gap. A door that now rubs at the top or takes more force to latch gives the inspection another place to look. The door, its hardware and the surrounding opening need to be evaluated together.

Where cameras or parking sensors are involved, the repair requirements extend beyond the painted surface. Scanning reads information from vehicle systems; calibration is a separate procedure when required by the manufacturer. A clean-looking bumper alone does not establish that the affected equipment is operating correctly.

Body repair on a converted Sprinter

A bed platform, shower enclosure or cabinet may cover the inside of a damaged body side. Windows, exterior utility connections and roof accessories add more edges and attachment points around the work. Access through a finished interior can be a substantial part of an otherwise familiar panel repair.
