Low-clearance damage at the roof edge

A height strike can leave a long scrape across the upper body, a crease at the roof edge or damage beside a fitted vent. A rack, awning or solar-panel mount may have been contacted as well. These are different damage locations, even when they came from the same overhead obstruction.

The contact point and the surrounding attachments both matter. An accessory that remains in place may conceal the panel beneath its foot or bracket. A roof repair therefore begins with the affected bodywork and the items mounted around it, including their attachment and sealing surfaces.

A sliding-door opening that has changed shape

Damage above a sliding door can affect the body line around the opening while leaving much of the door face untouched. A new rub mark, an uneven gap or a door that no longer closes as it did can reveal a fit problem that a photograph of the outer scrape misses.

The outer panel, door hardware, track and seals each have a different role. Replacing a seal cannot correct damaged metal, and moving a latch is not a substitute for identifying why the opening changed. The repair needs to address the cause of the altered fit as well as its visible effect.

Bodywork around windows and roof accessories

Added windows and roof vents join the conversion to the original van body. Repair access may involve interior trim, insulation or equipment around those openings. Factory components and aftermarket installations can also have different removal and sealing instructions.

A damp headliner, water beside a window or a damaged accessory mounting area belongs in the estimate with the exterior impact. Identifying both locations helps distinguish a body repair from work on the window, vent or accessory itself.
