A crease beside a galley cabinet is an exterior repair with an interior access problem. The cabinet, wall lining and insulation can cover the back of the metal. Wiring, plumbing or a heater duct may occupy that space too. Removing a wall panel is not always the same job as removing what is built against it.
The amount of interior work depends on where the damage sits and how the conversion was assembled. A removable trim panel may provide access in one van; fitted furniture may obstruct the same area in another. Locating those connections protects the conversion from unnecessary dismantling and makes the body repair easier to define.
Windows, flares and utility openings
A camper body can have an added side window, sleeping flare, water fill or electrical connection close to an impact. Each installation has an edge, attachment and sealing arrangement that meets the van body. Damage beside that opening can involve the fitted component as well as the surrounding metal.
Water appearing inside after an impact is a reason to examine that whole junction. A new bead of sealant cannot straighten a distorted opening or repair a damaged component. The source of the water and the condition of the opening determine the work, including whether a conversion specialist is needed for an installed item.
Exterior repairs without losing track of the build
A camper van often combines factory paint, painted accessories, vinyl graphics and exposed trim on the same side. Those finishes may require different treatment. Bodywork around an awning bracket, for example, can involve the van panel, the bracket location and access behind the interior wall.

Does a dent beside a cabinet mean the whole camper interior has to come out?
Not necessarily. Access depends on the repair method and how the cabinet, wall lining and equipment are attached. Some damage can be reached through a limited opening; other work requires more removal. The damaged area and the construction behind it determine how much dismantling is necessary.
